"My grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was less competition there."

There is one quote that encouraged me in a time when I thought my dreams would never come true - "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" - Eleanor Roosevelt

I think I like the one in your signature better. Are you a fan of Twain? I'm excited to read others...

I am a fan of Twain. Fantastic writer. Who else would have thought about creating such interesting characters as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn...Only one who had the courage to sale away from the safe harbour.

Who is your favorite writer?

I like Jane Austin. She is an excellent observer of people's characters.

I like your signature reflection25 ;)

What about this one? Guess which of Austen's book it is?

"-Have you no consideration for my poor nerves?
-You mistake me, my dear. I have the utmost respect for yout nerves. They've been my constant companions these twenty years." :D

I freely admit that I've never succumbed to reading Pride & Prejudice or any Jane Austen for that matter. How was the 2005 movie? I will say this, part of me wishes people were educated enough to speak English the way they did in her prose--what I've seen of it.

One of my personal favorites:

"Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all."

Sam Ewig

To understand the way they speak English is already a big challenge to me, but I like it smile
Here is one from Jane:

-"How quick come the reasons for approving what we like! "

Maybe we should change the title of this thread to "Jane Austen Quotes"
